FAQ’s

How Does it Work?

We send prescriptions for refills on up to 3 existing medications. For a 30 day script, the service costs $14.99. For 90 days, the service costs $38.99.  Please note these prices are for a doctor to review your medical history and send an e-prescription to your pharmacy.  This takes the place of an ER, urgent care or clinic co-pay.  It does NOT include the charge at the pharmacy, which depends on several factors including your insurance plan.

Click “Begin” above to begin the process—it’s easy as can be!

How fast is the process?

We are open 365 days a year, 8am-8pm (and often outside these hours!).  Once you submit a request, our staff will send an encrypted text message directly to your phone.  This usually occurs within 30-60 minutes. Rarely it can take a few hours.  The doctor will always review your information and make a decision within 24 hours. More commonly the entire process takes less than 3-6 hours.

Can I get a discount on the pharmacy fees?

Check out GoodRx.com to compare prices at different pharmacies in your area.  This is a great way to save money – the discounts are often cheaper than using an insurance plan.

Why should I use this service?

Doctors frequently hear from patients who want an easy way to refill chronic medications such as metformin or zoloft – and now there are online services like Stopgap Health that make this possible.

Here are just a few examples of some of the major benefits of this service.

  • Convenience: Using the internet for refilling prescriptions online is significantly faster and easier than visiting the doctor or pharmacy in person, and more efficient than playing phone tag. All it takes is a few clicks to get your prescription taken care of.
  • Affordability: Costs for the service are more than worth the convenience you get in return. Compared to ER and urgent care co-pays, which are often in the $100 range, online services are much more affordable.
  • Direct Access to a Doctor:  Chat directly with a doctor who will review your history, answer any questions you may have, and instantly send an e-prescription to your pharmacy.
  • Available regardless of insurance coverage:  We charge a flat fee for our service, payable by credit/debit card.  There is no need to have health insurance, although if you do have coverage, some plans allow you to submit your receipt for credit. Please note this is the responsibility of each patient; we do not have direct relationships with any insurance plan.
