Is my medication eligible for a refill?

How does RefillGenie work?

Accepted Answer

You will be asked to answer a few basic questions about your medical history. A doctor will review your information and contact you directly via text message. If appropriate, a prescription for a refill of your existing medicine will be transmitted electronically to your local pharmacy. All the website forms and text messages are encrypted and fully HIPAA-compliant to ensure your privacy. Please note, we do NOT diagnose acute conditions or start new medications. How much does it cost?

We send prescriptions for refills on up to 3 existing medications. For a 30-day script, the service costs $29.99. For 90 days, the service costs $59.99. Please note these prices are for a doctor to review your medical history and send an e-prescription to your pharmacy. This takes the place of an ER / Urgent Care copay which are typically $150 or more. It does NOT include the charge at the pharmacy, which depends on several factors including your insurance plan.

How fast is the process?

You will receive a text message from a doctor within a maximum of 12 hours – more often, we are able to complete the process within 2-3 hours of your initial request. We are open 365 days a year, from 8am-8pm (and often outside these hours)!

Can I get a discount on the pharmacy fees?

Our online fee is for a doctor to review your information and transmit a prescription. This takes the place of an ER or Urgent Care co-pay, which are typically in the $150 range. It does NOT include the charge at the pharmacy, which depends on several factors including your insurance plan. Check out GoodRx.com to compare prices at different pharmacies in your area. This is a great way to save money – the discounts are often cheaper than using an insurance plan.

Why should I use this service?

If you are on the road, in between doctors or insurance plans, or simply unable to get an appointment in time and you need an urgent refill on existing medications, we're here to help. We do not intend to replace your primary care doctor. It is important to re-establish care ASAP with a local provider that can perform regular physical exams and manage your health over the long term. RefillGenie exists as a temporary resource to bridge the gaps in care that often occur in times of uncertainty.

Is refilling meds online safe?

Your safety is our top priority. For that reason, there are certain medications we cannot refill – for example, controlled substances or medicines that require close monitoring of blood levels. In certain instances, we may advise you to have bloodwork done before providing a refill. In those cases, we will provide the lab order and interpretation free of charge.
